7.19.09 London

I will come out and say it now, London is already my favorite city. For many reasons that is; one, everything is in English and everyone speaks it. Two, the city is gorgeous. Three, we are staying in one of the wealthiest areas in the UK and Europe, South Kensington. I know, it even sounds shnazzy. People pay million and millions of pounds to live in this very ritzy, exclusive side of town. Why are we staying here? Not sure, but we are sure glad. The buildings are beautiful, the people and their pets are beautiful, the stores are beautiful and the cars are beautiful. Oh the cars! Upon walking out of the metro, sorry, the Tube for the first time we saw the Lamborghini London store, followed with drive-byes of Bentleys, Masarati's, Mercedez, BMW's, Mini Coops and Porches. They are parked everywhere here like Madza's and Ford's are parked back home. There are a lot of them, they sound good, they are fast and I love it. Outside of our flat was this sweet little fella.

Who knew that it would be by Nissan of all companies. I am guessing they were a much older, European only production; but I loved it. Its a Nissan Figaro, and its my steezy car sighting for the day. "Steezy": a term combining the words "style" and "ease". Although originally dereived from the slopes as a snowboarding term referring to ones tricks, it has now crossed into everyday slang. Also meaning smooth, stylish clean and cool.
"Hey man, did you see Spens and Tiff driving in his new ride. It had major steez."
"Holy cow, Ty's moves at the club were mad steezy!"

We got settled into our flats then set out on a walking tour of the city as a group. We headed for the tube and made our way up to Trafalgar Square where we say this percular man standing on a large pedistul talking to everyone down below. It was different.

Preaching the good word about UFO's

When we got closer we could hear that he was talking about UFO's and the inevitable fact that aliens exist and want to communicate with us. Upon later inquirey we learned that it is part of an exhibit where this podium will occupy around 2,500 public citizens accross the span of 180 days. Each person will get one hour to stand up on the podium and talk about whatever they want for the whole hour. This will be going on 24 hours a day until the 180 days are up. Like a public speech forum marathon. Sad for the 3am guy who gets no one to come listen to him. Or her. But overall I think its a brilliant idea and a lot of fun. Thats something that I love about London; all the available opportunites. It seems there is always a new opening, a premier, a show, concert, movie or some public event thats fresh, outside the box and experimental. Its a great city! From the square we literally walked all over the city, passing the Buchingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Parliament.

I love it here. It obviously doesnt feel as foreign as Italy and France, due to the fact everythings in English; but also that London is much more Urban and new then where we previously have been. I am excited though and cant wait to dive in and experience everything here. Cheers!
