For our free day we decided it would be neat to attend mass at St. Peter’s then relax the rest of the day at the hotel pool getting some much needed nap time, sketch time and down time. Mass was a crowded event, and a lot to sit through when you don’t understand the meaning of what’s happening or the language everything’s happening in. But a cool experience. Afterwards we walked out to find most of St. Peter’s square filled with people and saw a large red banner hanging down from one of the windows in the Popes study. We were thrilled to find out that we was speaking to the square and blessing everyone in it the day we were there!
So we snagged some footage of the Pope, received our blessing we couldn’t understand and made our way home for the day in the sun.
Not before stopping for gelato of course. Its becoming a habit. We got lots of sleep, some great sketches and watercolors done and got all packed up to head out in the morning for Florence. Ciao.
Whoa! You saw the Pope? Cool! BAH!
